Conduit v0.21.0 security release
· 2 min read
Conduit v0.21.0 is a security release. It closes exposures found in an internal audit — an unauthenticated API, environment and file exfiltration, server-side request forgery, plaintext SASL credentials, and record values in logs and errors — and backports the same fixes to v0.20.6.
What changed
- The API binds to localhost by default, and requires a token on any non-loopback listener.
${VAR}expansion is allowlisted (env.allow), so plugins no longer read the whole environment.- File and JavaScript paths are allowlisted, and outbound HTTP is guarded at dial time, closing server-side request forgery.
- The log connector is metadata-only, and a pipeline with no recoverable DLQ refuses to start.
- Kafka refuses SASL without TLS unless
saslAllowPlaintextis set, andconduit migrate kafka-connectblocksSASL_PLAINTEXT. - Postgres v0.17.5 refuses a replaced replication slot and detects restores, with new error codes rather than silent data loss.
- Errors and logs no longer echo record values, and positions are logged as salted hashes. The toolchain moves to Go 1.26.10 (GO-2026-6809).
Most fixes change a default, so read the release notes before upgrading. A security advisory accompanies the release; links will be added here when it is published.
